Obituaries & Condolences

Betty Jean Barker (Frink), 87, passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2024 under the care of Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Heather Hill in New Port Richey, Florida.

She was born on September 2, 1936 in Norwich, NY. Betty spent most of her years at her home in New Berlin, NY. She was very proud of her home. She was able to spend her final years in her home with the help of her son whom she shared her birthday with, dear friends, and family. She loved feeding and watching birds, and taking care of all creatures who visited her home. She loved all animals especially her lifetime of dogs with Daisy Mae being the latest little love of her life. She loved camping, playing card games, attending 60 plus, and any time spent with her cherished friends and family. She was a cherished member of Columbus Community Church where she found solace and community.

Betty was known for her strength and perseverance. When asked how she managed to get through the twist and turns that life presented, she always replied that it was her faith that carried her through.

Betty is survived by her loved ones and dear friends. We will carry her in our hearts forever and she will be deeply missed. We will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman, our Mom, grandmother, great grandmother, Aunt and friend. The family asks that if you find a 4 leaf clover, pass it on to someone you love in her honor. May she rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held at Columbus Community Church April 20th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly request donations be made to Columbus Community Church and Gulfside Hospice in her memory, at 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O Lakes, Fl, 34639.

Our belated condolences.  We only found out from Renee Morse today about Betty's passing.  She was a wonderful lady.  A friend and great neighbor.  We had planned a barbeque last year and invited her, but due to the rainy weather we had to cancel it.  Gary always made sure to make her Banana Daiquiris when she came over because she loved them so.  She will be missed by so many.
