David M Larrabee, 80 yrs. old of Edmeston, NY passed away peacefully at home on the morning of April 27, 2023.

David was born on June 25, 1942, in New Berlin, the son of the late Roger & Mary E. (Simmons) Larrabee.  He spent his childhood on the family farm in Edmeston and attended Edmeston Central School.  He worked for many years on the family farm and raised animals with his Dad.  David also worked for Webb & Sons in New Berlin, also known as Lok N Logs and Coastal Lumber, as a laborer until his retirement.  Later, he worked at Rogers Conservation in Sherburne doing maintenance and lawncare.   He also worked weekends at the Pittsfield transfer station and Jellystone Park as a groundskeeper.

David married Mary L. Holl on July 6, 1974.  She predeceased him on November 11, 2022.

David spent years volunteering at the New Berlin Youth Days and other community events, helping wherever he could.  He was named Citizen of the Year in 2006 by the New Berlin Youth Days Committee alongside his wife, Mary.

David was known by his children as “Superman”.  There was not anything he couldn’t or wouldn’t do for others.

He is survived by his children, Eric Larrabee of Otego, NY and Samantha Hubbard of Oneonta, grandchildren, Jordyn and Jayden Hubbard, sister, Joanie (Bud) Brownnell of Edmeston and his close friend and caregiver, Rebecca Herholz of Pittsfield along with several nieces & nephews.

A memorial service will be held, May 6, 2023, at 3:00 PM with calling hours prior to the funeral service starting at 1:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, NY.  Pastor Robert Lloyd will officiate.  The burial will follow the funeral service at the Union Cemetery, Edmeston, NY.

We had a friendship that lasted up until his death. David was a good man. Rest in peace my friend.

I met Dave thru Victory Mkts in New Berlin and Joan. He was always a gentle soul as I remember. Had some great conversations while he was shopping and I tending the Victory Mkt.  I left New Berlin in 1987. 
Please know your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Dave was a great, hard working guy.
