Karl L. Gregory, 82 yrs. old of South New Berlin, NY passed away on March 4, 2023, at the Norwich Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Norwich, NY.

Karl was born on March 22, 1940, at Chase Memorial Hospital in New Berlin, NY, the son of John and Blanche (Padgett) Gregory.

Karl spent most of his life in the New Berlin & South New Berlin areas and was a graduate of the New Berlin Central School, receiving the Superior Scientific Scholarship at graduation.  He was also a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in agriculture.  Karl was a wonderful cook and was considered to be, the chief cook for his college roommates. At home he won blue ribbons for making homemade bread.  Some of his favorite dishes were popovers, bagels, yogurt chicken cheese buns and many types of stir fry dishes. 

Karl was a member of the Pittsfield Grange and the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin where he served as a lay leader for many years.  He also served as the Pittsfield Town Justice and was named Farmer of the Year, receiving recognition at a dinner held at the Deer Path Restaurant. He also enjoyed being a driver for the Red Cross, transporting blood and organs to their proper destinations. 

Karl married Doreen E. Johnson on September 25, 1965, in New Berlin, NY.  The couple enjoyed a month long honeymoon in England and following his retirement, a tour trip to Israel.  Both were very special trips for the couple who were married for 57 years.

In addition to his wife Doreen, Karl is survived by his half-brother, Donald Haight of Delhi and half-sister Hazel (Haight) Shaver of Oneonta as well as several nieces and nephews.  Karl and his half sister hazel shared the same birthday 14 years apart which was very special to both of them.  He was predeceased by his brother, Roy Gregory and half-brother, Charlie Haight.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM with calling hours prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM.  Pastor Dan Baltich, of the First Baptist Church of New Berlin will officiate.

Karl was a good friend over a the passed twenty years. 
 I am very sorry that he has left us but feel certain he is enjoying quality time with Jesus and I expect to see him again.  Both of them.
