Viola Reynolds, a dedicated nurse and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 29, 2026. Born on September 16, 1929, Viola lived a life marked by unwavering commitment to her family and her faith.
Raised on her family's farm, Viola’s early years were shaped by the responsibilities of caring for rabbits and taking on babysitting jobs. She attended Sherburne High School before marrying her husband Raymond, and supporting him and their children during his military career. Later on, Viola worked as a nurse at St. Luke's and Pathfinder, offering compassionate care and support to countless patients throughout her career.
Viola was a devoted wife to her husband, who honorably served his country for 27 years. Throughout their life together, she was a loving mother who poured her whole heart into raising and caring for her children. Her home was known as a sanctuary of warmth, strength, and unconditional love. A proud member of the First Baptist Church of West Edmeston and the Sherburne Grange, Viola held a deep connection to her faith and community.
She is survived by her children, Harvey Reynolds, Eddie (Sofie) Reynolds, Debbie (Kenneth) Tuttle, and Nigel Reynolds. Viola also leaves behind her sister, Mary Dougkenty; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and dedication.
Viola’s parents, Louie and Helen Bagnall, her son Raymond E. Reynolds, and eleven siblings preceded her in death.
Calling hours will be held on June 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Berean Baptist Church, located at 18 Genesee St, New Berlin, NY 13411, followed by the funeral service at 12:30 PM.
Viola Reynolds’ life stands as a testament to the values of devotion, care, and faithfulness. Her contributions to her family, community, and profession are remembered with the deepest respect and gratitude. In honor of Viola, please make donations to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County.
