Shawn Loomis

November 16, 1975 — August 1, 2025

Shawn Loomis, born November 16, 1975, in Norwich, NY, passed away on August 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, love, and contribution to his community. Known for his goofy and loud personality, Shawn was not just a remarkable individual; he was a devoted family man whose life revolved around those he loved.

With over 25 years of service, Shawn was a vital part of the New Berlin Fire Department, rising to the rank of second Assistant Chief. His commitment to safety and community welfare was matched by his passion for his own logging business, which he operated for many years. Beyond that, he worked at Chobani and engaged in various truck driving jobs, contributing to projects such as the building of Unadilla Valley Central School.

Shawn was not only a dedicated worker but also a man of many interests. He cherished the time spent with his granddaughter, Paisley, and found joy in golfing, riding motorcycles, and camping with family. His love for gathering his loved ones together for family time embodied his strong family values.

One of his proudest accomplishments was being one of the first 16 members of the Red Knights motorcycle club, signifying his adventurous spirit and camaraderie with fellow riders.

Shawn is survived by his beloved wife, Ashley, and his children: Shauntel (Dalton) Hoagland, Morgan (Tanner) Webb, Trinity Loomis, and Zackary Loomis. He also leaves behind his mother, Sharlene, his siblings, Tina (Larry) Sullivan, Sara (Jeff) Wilson and Chris (Sarah) Loomis, and some might say his favorite: his granddaughter Paisley, as well as several nieces and nephews who will carry on his memory and spirit.

Shawn is predeceased by his uncle Randy McIntyre and his step-father, Louie Brown.

Shawn's passing is mourned not only by his immediate family but by many who had the privilege of knowing him— a man whose presence lit up every room and whose loving heart touched countless lives. He will be remembered for his stubborn yet loving nature, always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh, making the world a better place in his own unique way.
