Myrtle G. Carpenter, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on October 1, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on November 5, 1946, Myrtle was known for her direct and spirited nature, a true spitfire who never hesitated to express her thoughts or stand her ground.
Myrtle dedicated much of her time to volunteering, making a significant impact at the Chase Nursing Home and serving with the Pittsfield Emergency Squad. Her caring spirit and commitment to helping others were evident in all her endeavors.
Her hobbies and interests brought her immense joy. Myrtle had a passion for antique stock cars and served as the treasurer of her local stock car club, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and excitement of the sport. She was an avid player of cards and bingo, often gathering with friends and family for these fun-filled activities. Myrtle’s love for animals was well-known, as she cherished both cats and dogs throughout her life.
She leaves behind her loving children, Michael (Norman) Anderson-Carpenter and Russell (Patricia Murray) Carpenter. Myrtle is also survived by her brother, Howard "Buzzy" Curtis, along with numerous nieces and nephews and her cherished godson.
Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, Carl Carpenter, as well as her son, Arthur Lee Carpenter. She also joins her late parents, Howard and Gladys Curtis, and her sisters, Jean Fuegmann and Patricia O'Dell, and brother William Curtis in eternal rest.
Calling hours will be held at Dakin Funeral Home, located at 17 N Main St, New Berlin, NY, on October 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held following the service at the Pittsfield Firehouse.
Myrtle G. Carpenter will be remembered for her fiery spirit, her commitment to her community, and her unyielding love for family and friends. Her legacy will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her life.
