Joyce Marie White

Joyce Marie (Green) White, 82, passed away at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Born on August 5 in Brookfield, NY, the youngest of six, she spent her childhood in New Berlin and her adult years in South New Berlin. Joyce lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and deep love for her family. She was a survivor in every sense of the word, facing life’s hardships with courage and determination while continuing to care for those around her.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were the center of her world and the source of her greatest pride. Joyce was preceded in death by her second husband, Phil Wagner, who dubbed her Sweetie and the name stuck. His memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.

An avid knitter and crocheter, Joyce created many beautiful blankets and handmade treasures. Her gifts were made with patience, care, and will comfort her family for years to come. Joyce also enjoyed collecting and driving vintage automobiles (with her second husband), her many cats, and a good pasta salad with pepperoni.

Joyce’s humor, wisdom, perseverance, and free spirit touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy of strength and love will live on with the family who cherished her so deeply. She will be missed.

There will not be a funeral but a private family memorial gathering.
