Richard Arthur Gage, 77 yrs. old of Columbus, NY went to be with the Lord and Savior on April 7, 2022 at his home.
Richard was born on May 1, 1944 in New Berlin, NY the son of Elden Morvin Gage & Martha Ida Prosser Gage. His childhood was spent in the New Berlin area where he attended New Berlin Central School and received his GED. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany from 1963-1966. He was later employed as an electrical inspector at Simmonds Precision now known as GE Aviation for 31 years, and served for 5 years as a Reserved Deputy Sheriff in Deming (Luna County), New Mexico.
Richard was a member of the New Berlin Fish & Game Club and attended the Lebanon Federated Church.
Throughout the years he enjoyed hunting and canoeing with his son Stacy. Traveling and camping with Elaine was a huge part of his life. From taking an Alaskan cruise to spending a period of 6 years building a home from scratch in Deming, New Mexico where they vacationed. In addition they visited family in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, South Dakota and Florida.
Richard had a passion for running and ran in the Boilermaker.
One thing he was very proud of is the fact that he raised his 4 children as a single father.
On October 12, 1990 he married Elaine Gage who survives him.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children; Lisa & Sean Cole of Staunton, VA, Kelly Gage of South New Berlin, NY, Shelly & Bill Kellum of West Davenport, NY, step children; Bryan & Nancy Johnson of Edmeston and Jodi & Keith Stage of Columbus, NY, daughter-in-law, Maxine Gage of Norwich, NY and one brother, Alfred Gage of New Berlin, NY as well as 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Stacy, brothers; Elden Gage, Allen Gage, Arthur Gage, Donald Gage, and sisters; Geneva Torrey, Norma Williams, Dora Gage and Phyllis Gage.
Calling hours will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12,, 2022 at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP, New Berlin, NY. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home immediately following the calling hours. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at the Columbus Public House, Columbus, NY.
The interment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin, NY.
