d. January 14, 2017

Roger M. Bice
, born October 15, 1930, passed away on January 14, 2017 with his wife Thelma, his son John and members of his family by his side.

Roger was born at home in Brookfield, to Mable & Melvin Bice.  After attending Brookfield School and serving his country in the Army, he met his wife Thelma Cronk of South Edmeston at his parent’s home.  They were married on January 9, 1954 and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

He loved the land, the road, and being a family man.  For many years, he owned and operated a family dairy farm and with his son John, ran “Bice Trucking”.  He drove many a team of draft horses, and could be seen at horse and tractor pulls throughout the state.  Family Sunday drives in the country with a stop for ice cream will always be especially remembered.

Roger is survived by sisters; June Morey & Nancy (Richard) Button, brother; Raymond(Judy)  Bice, son; John (Kim) Bice, 3 grandchildren; Kathy (Fred) Sellards, Reuben(Loretta)  Bice & Codie (Mike) Smith, great grandchildren; Brandon Wallach, Scott Brill, Bryton Bice, Ethan Smith & Emma Smith and special life-long friends; Bonnie & John Jones.

He was predeceased by his son David Bice in 1993, his parents Melvin & Mable and brother, Ronald Bice.

Thanks are extended to the staff of Chase Nursing Home for their dedication and care.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Pittsfield Fire House.  The service will be followed by a luncheon.
