Alta M. Fairchild-Sutton "Robbie" , age 82, of Norwich NY, passed away on October 8, 2024, in her beloved hometown. Born on November 23, 1941, in Sharon, NY, she was a cherished member of her family and community.
Robbie's professional journey began at the New Berlin Shoe Factory, where she demonstrated her strong work ethic and dedication. In1991, she pursued her passion for healthcare by obtaining her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification. Her compassion and commitment to caring for others led her to serve at Hamilton Hospital, where she made a lasting impact on both patients and colleagues alike.
A proud graduate of Worcester High School in 1959, Robbie was well-known for her friendly and kind demeanor. She would go above and beyond, always ready to "give the shirt off her back" to anyone in need. Her generosity of spirit was matched only by her love for reading, arts and crafts, and scrapbooking, activities that brought her joy and fulfillment.
Robbie served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961, attaining the rank of Private. Her military service was a testament to her strength and resilience, qualities that she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her sons, Clark Andrews (Crissy) and Mark Andrews, and daughter Beth Moore (Danny Squires). Alta also leaves behind many stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward. She is dearly remembered by her sisters, Sharon Herzog and Mary Hornauer.
Robbie was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Frayer (Bruce); father, Orville E. Sperbeck; and husbands, Clark "Bill" Andrews, Harry Fairchild, and Emmit Sutton. She also mourned the loss of her sisters, Norma Kilmer and Flora Boynton.
Visitation will be held on November 2, 2024, at the Oneonta Assembly of God, located at 1667 Co Rd 48, Oneonta, NY 13820, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Robbie was a woman of remarkable warmth and kindness, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
