Elsie E. Holbert, 71 yrs. old of New Berlin, NY passed away on June 7, 2019 at MIB Hospital, Cooperstown, NY.

Elsie was born on August 25, 1947 in New Berlin, NY the daughter of Glenn & Eloise (Phillips) Lewis.  Her childhood was spent in New Berlin where she attended New Berlin Central School, graduating with the class of 1968.  She was employed at the Sunoco service station and later at the Busy Bee when the service station became a convenience store.  She was also employed as a residential aide at Pathfinder Village for 30 years. 

She was a member of the Columbus Community Church, the Columbus Community Church Ladies Aide, now known as the Good Neighbors and the New Berlin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed sitting at Stewarts visiting with people, shopping, Brooks’ chicken and candy apples.  She also bowled for the fire department.

Elsie married Edward Holbert in 1978 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church New Berlin, NY.  He survives her.

She is also survived by her sons; David (Rachel) Lewis of Blenheim, Ontario and Mike (Taylor Johnson) Holbert of New Berlin, NY and grandchildren; Addisyn Lewis, Maggi & Colton Holbert, her brother Gerald Lewis as well as many close friends. She was predeceased by two other brothers named Richard Lewis Sr. and Donald Lewis.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at the Columbus Community Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Richard Sliter officiating.  A luncheon will be served after the service.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 11 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to the New Berlin Fire Department or the Columbus Community Church.
