Obituaries & Condolences

Warren Stuart Genung, 86 yrs. old of Norwich, NY went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Wilson Hospital on July 18, 2017. 

Warren was born on June 17, 1931 in New Berlin, NY to Earl & Irene Genung.  He was predeceased by his wife Mona who passed away on August 13, 2006.  They had been married for 52 years.

Warren is survived by his children; Sande of Beckley, WV, Sherri Humphrey of Missouri, Shawn and Valerie of Mount Upton, NY and Scott & Terry also of Mt. Upton, NY, his grandchildren; Cameron, Tanner and Rileigh, Joanna, Joshua and Josiah.

Warren’s childhood was spent in South Edmeston and New Berlin, NY culminating in graduation from New Berlin High School.  Warren proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  After graduation from photography school, he was involved in photographing weddings along with his wife Mona.

Warren was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and skeet & trap shooter.  He was active for years in the Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs, the Iroquois Rod & Gun Club, and the Rockdale Rod and Gun Club, passionately supporting the passing on of these sports to the younger generation through promoting the sending of kids to DEC camp.  He was also instrumental in organizing the Conservation Exhibit at the Chenango County Fair for many years.

Before entering the Veterans’ Home in Oxford in October 2015, Warren was a member of the Berean Baptist Church of New Berlin, NY.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Berean Baptist Church, New Berlin with Pastor Daniel Baker officiating.  Calling hours will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the funeral service also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be sent to the Federation of Sportsman’s Club, PO Box 263, North Norwich, NY  13814, to help children go to DEC camp, which was one of Warren’s passions.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Genung years ago when his daughter attended Marshall University. May his memory be a blessing to his family.

Just learned of Warren's passing. Had I known I would certainly have attended his service. He was a friend since 2006
who has been missed since he moved to Oxford. Will look forward to seeing him in heaven. Prayers for the family and other friends continue.
