Obituaries & Condolences

Ethel Marion Becker, 94 yrs. old of New Berlin, NY passed away on September 6, 2016 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home, and is now enjoying her new home in Heaven with Jesus, whom she loved.

Marion was born on April 23, 1922 in Cooperstown, NY to Willis & Ethel (Wiles) Becker.

Marion came to live with Marjorie Phelps when she was 17 yrs. old.  She was very active, mowing the lawn and going “up town” to the Big M, drug store and post office.  She was a very social person with a sweet heart.  Everyone enjoyed her company. Marion was always willing to help.  She would ask if there was anything she could do for you and was always ready to do it.

After Marjorie Phelps passed away, her daughter, Betty Lou Walsthed cared for her for a year.  She then went to live with Blanch Johnson who had worked for Marjorie for years and later for Betty Lou.    She joined Edrie Jeffers & Gladys O’Donneled.  Following Blanches retirement, she was cared for by Doreen Gregory.  The Johnson family; Elwood, Sue & family, Jan, Don & family and Karl and Doreen loved her very much and she loved them.  She remained with Doreen until she moved to Chase Health Care.

Marion enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church in New Berlin.  Her favorite songs were How Great Thou Art and Jesus Loves Me.  She loved southern gospel music.  Her favorite was the Collingsworth Family.  She attended many concerts in Port Crane, Word of Live and Bath, NY.

She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 1:30 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP with Pastor Dan Baltich of the First Baptist Church, New Berlin officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Andrew’s Cemetery, New Berlin.

So sorry to hear of Marion's passing, but I know that she is so happy to be in Heaven. I have many good memories of meeting her on the street when she was going uptown. She always had a smile on her face. My mom's girls & Marjorie's were some of the Precious Jewels at Berean Baptist. Thank you ,Doreen & your family, for taking such good care of her. May God bless you & give you comfort during your loss.
