Obituaries & Condolences

Richard Dean Utter went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30th with his loving wife by his side at home in Pittsfield, NY.

He was born September 16, 1936 in Edmeston, NY to Clarence Utter and Olive (Strain) Utter.  He was raised in Edmeston and worked the family farm during his early years.

 He was married to Firn Jaycox on February 2nd, 1963.  He is survived by his five boys:  Dave (Cheryl) of Scipio Center, NY; Pete (Mary) of Unadilla, NY; Dale (Cindy) of Mount Upton, NY; Jeff (Jeannette) of South New Berlin, NY, and Dan (Brenda) of South New Berlin, NY.  He is also survived by his brothers:  Edwin of Edmeston, NY and Samuel (Claire) of Spencerport, NY, as well as eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. 

Richard was a member of the Holmesville Baptist Church for many years.  He worked for Empire Livestock, Kelsey-Hayes, and I.L. Richers as a young man.  He then worked for many years at the Town of Pittsfield Highway Department.  Later in life, he enjoyed delivering newspapers for the Evening Sun and Binghamton Press- Sun Bulletin. 
Richard was a very private man who enjoyed being with his family.  He liked cutting wood, sitting on his patio, and eating breakfast out with his wife.  He will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening, June 3rd from 6–9 pm at the Dakin Funeral Home LP in New Berlin.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4th at 11 am at the Holmesville Baptist Church with the Reverend Romeyn Kipp officiating.   Interment will follow immediately after with a procession to the Union Cemetery in Edmeston, NY.

Firn - I just learned that you lost you husband last month. I am sorry for your loss and know how difficult it is for you.
George has been gone 9 years and I still miss him every day but it does get better so hang in there. My best to you.
