Gladys Elise Thomsen 91 yrs. old of South New Berlin, NY passed away on September 2, 2015 at her home.
Gladys was born on March 17, 1924 in Norwich, NY, the daughter of Aksel & Bessie (Bowers) Petersen. Her childhood was spent in the Town of New Berlin. She was a graduate of South New Berlin Central School.
On April 29, 1944 she married Clarence Thomsen in South New Berlin. He predeceased her on February 24, 1991.
She retired from GTE of Norwich, NY. She loved and enjoyed her home and flower gardens. She enjoyed shopping, travel and was an avid reader of many types of books. She loved her family very much and her best friend Amos, her cat. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Norwich.
Gladys is survived by her children; Judy T. Rowe of South New Berlin, Clarence Paul Thomsen & his wife Barbara of South New Berlin, Terry Thomsen of South New Berlin and Jon Thomsen and wife Charlotte also of South New Berlin as well as grandchildren; Patrick Thomsen and his partner Lu, Zoe & Rob Baker, Carrie & Mike Meade, Devon & Emily Thomsen, Courtney & Brian Sarpriacone and Jon-Paul Rowe and his partner Marilyn as well as 11 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother; Aksel M Petersen Jr. of Sherburne, NY., two sisters-in-law Jennie Chapin of New Berlin, Carole Thomsen of Atlanta GA. and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, New Berlin, NY with the Very Reverend Charles Taylor officiating. The interment will held in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
